(03/14/05) BYRAM People near the Cranberry Lake section of Byram Township had to get by without running water this weekend after a neighbors oil tank leaked fuel into the well water supply.
Affected residents say they knew something was wrong when they noticed a strange odor coming from their tap water. The state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is now in the process of cleaning up approximately 100 gallons of oil that leaked into the ground. In order to help people living in Byram, a portable water tank has been brought in and hooked into the distribution system to temporarily provide water.
DEP officials say they hope to have the well working again in a couple of days after a new treatment system is installed.
